The 2010 NYSPHSAA State Cross Country Meet was held in beautiful Pawling, New York at Lakside Park. The course was a winding adventure past abandoned and presumably haunted houses and barns, and up one of the biggest hills ever seen on a championship course.

Easily one of the toughest hills you'll encounter in high school cross country. This hill compares with the hill at Sunken Meadows on Long Island and the infamous 'Science Hill' at Weedsport.

Bader encounters 'THE HILL' during Friday's practice on the Lakeside Park course.

Strange beings in attendance at the State Meet.

At about the half-way point in Saturday's State Championships, Bader is running somewhere in the top 30 runners of the race.

Greg screams from exertion at the finish line.  They always say that racing is more about heart than talent......Bader has both.

J-E's Greg Bader (2nd from the left) and the victorious Section III State Champion Cross Country squad at the awards ceremony at Pawling H.S. Bader was Section III's fifth scorer in the race. The J-E senior placed 12th overall in 17 minutes and 06 seconds.  Section III won the intersectional competition by 60 points over runnerup Section I.

Four years of hard work and literally 1000's of miles helped Greg to achieve one of his goals - to run in the state cross country championships.  Congratulations Greg!

Always pay respect to the American flag.

Greg Bader's family drove 250 miles in the wee hours Saturday morning to support him at the state meet.  Now this is what I call a family!

The great Bader surge is in full swing by this point in the race.  In this photo, Bader is about 800 meters from the finish line and he's moved up to around the top twenty in the race.  Bader passes everyone in this photo who are ahead of him at the time in one of the most dramatic second-half comebacks ever witnessed.

Kelsey (photographer on most posted photos), Rachel, Greg, and Ryan celebrate after Greg's race.  What a great day to be alive!
