2001

The 2001 squad was the only squad to have a losing league record (2 - 4) since 1984, but it did defeat rivals Bishop Ludden and Solvay. The Eagles did have two all league runners, senior Josh Dexter and junior Tim Braudrick who were 2nd Team All Division runners. The highlight of the season was the Junior Varsity's first place finish at the South Jefferson Invite in September. The season will be forever linked to the 9/11 attacks, and because of security concerns, the Eagles did not venture into New York City for the Manhattan College Invite. At Sectionals, J-E finished 13th, mainly because three seniors sacrificed their races to help others by donating blood. The 'donation' severely zapped their energy and rendered 3/5's of the normal scorers much less competitive. Josh Dexter was team MVP and top scorer with 89 points. Justin Wood and Tim Braudrick were tied for 2nd in scoring with 79 points, one point ahead of senior co-captain Clint Side's 78 points. Rookie harrier Justin Cook was 5th man with 53 points, followed by Kyle Clifford with 42 and Jim Magera with 40. Nick Monica was awarded the Coaches Award ..... 2002

The 2002 season had a 20-man squad, one of the largest in J-E XC History.  Many of the younger Eagles learned some valuable lessons in 02 which helped them in their 04 championship.  The squad improved its record to 3 - 3 record and finished a much more competitive 6th in sectionals.  The 'Captain', Justin Wood was the squad's lone all star,  and team MVP.  Wood was also the team's top scorer with 105 points.  Sophomore Paul Barbaglia had 103 points, followed by soph. Kyle Clifford (90), freshman Jimmy Dexter (82), and Mike Case (61 points).  Tim Braudrick (56) and frosh Tim Hughes (48) rounded out the top seven scorers.  Another senior captain, Mike Case, was awarded with the Coaches Award. Tim Braudrick, the last of J-E's three senior captains made a huge difference in the successful season through his leadership and hardwork.  Paul Barbaglia was the team's most improved runner and Jimmy Dexter was Rookie of the Year.

The Eagles returned to N.Y. City after a one-year absence (No trip was taken in 2001 because of the 9/11 tragedy.)  The squad visited a "ground zero" and were overwhelmed by its magnitude.

At the conclusion of the season, Senior Tim Braudrick constructed a professional-caliber video that summarized both the J-E Boys and Girls seasons.  This video was spliced with interviews and live racing footage put with some 'inspiring' music and is one of Coach Roman's prized possessions.

2003

The 2003 season saw J-E raise its record to 4 - 2 in league competition.  The squad began the season by losing its first two dual meets, and then ran off four straight victories.  One of the losses for the Eagles was a 27 - 29 thriller with Skaneateles.  In another exciting race, J-E defeated CBA after the two teams tied 28 - 28.  J-E was declared the winner because of the 6th man rule.  There were 22 members of the Varsity and Junior Varsity squads.  Number one man and team MVP was junior Paul Barbaglia who scored 119 points on the season.  Barbaglia was number one man in all but one race in 2003.  2nd man was Kyle Clifford (98 points), followed by Jimmy Dexter (84), Bryce Pettitt (68), Kyle Merrill (54), Matt Braudrick (52), and Joel Lopez (48).  In sectional competition, the Eagles faltered to a 9th place finish in Class C, but was the 26th fastest squad out of 61 when the four races were merged together.  The lone trophy won by the 2003 squad was the 3rd place trophy won by the JV Squad at the Cato Invitational.  Kyle Merrill was the team's Rookie of the Year Award winner.

Paul Barbaglia was the lone first team all star.  Kyle Clifford, Jim Dexter, and Bryce Pettitt were 2nd team all stars.

2004

The 2004 season saw J-E win it's first league title since 1998.  Although J-E had to share the championship with Cazenovia and Marcellus, the season saw the Eagles get state ranked in the top 10 of Class C teams, finishing the season as the 7th best Class C squad in New York State.  In Sectionals, J-E was 3rd behind Sauquoit Valley and Tully, but was the first C-1 team to finish.  Team MVP Paul Barbaglia was pushed hard by fellow all stars Bryce Pettitt and Kyle Clifford.  The big win of the season was on the Fenner Fields Complex in Cazenovia when J-E came from behind to defeat the Lakers 26 - 29.  A disappointing loss to co-champions Marcellus (27 - 28) was the only blemish on an otherwise outstanding season.  In all, the J-E harriers won 6 awards for their efforts in invitationals.  The JV Squad won the B1-B2 Crossover Meet, and the B'ville Invite, and was 2nd at Tully.  The Varsity was 2nd at Tully and Liverpool, and 3rd at B'ville.

Senior co-captain Paul Barbaglia led the squad in scoring and became a First Team All Division runner for the 2nd year in a row.  Kyle Clifford was also a First Team All Division runner.  Co-captain Bryce Pettitt won the 2004 Coaches Award and made the All Division First Team as well.  Juniors Chris Weingarth and Jake Schutt were the team's most improved runners.  Freshman Jeff Donohue was the team's Rookie of the Year Award winner.

2005

The 2005 Cross Country season saw the Eagles support a 5 - 3 record in the Liberty Division, good enough for a 3rd place finish.  The Eagles defeated Skaneateles, Ludden, Solvay, Hannibal, and CBA, and lost to Caz., Westhill and Marcellus.  The highlight of the season was J-E's first place finish at the Weedsport Invitational scoring a team low 48 points.  In all, the Eagles won trophies at the Liverpool, B'ville, and Oswego Invites to go along with the Weedsport victory.  Team MVP and high scorer was sophomore Jeff Donohue who compiled 119 points.  Donohue was a first team all division runner as well.  Seniors Chris Weingarth and Jimmy Dexter shared the MVP Award with Donohue for their outstanding leadership as co-captains.  Donato Direnzo was the squad's Rookie of the Year and the JV winner of the Oswego Invite.  Ryan "Mikey" Darling was the team's Most Improved runner and Joe Sullivan was the Coaches Award recipient.  J-E's top scorers were: 1-Jeff Donohue (119)  2-Chris Weingarth (118)  3-Jimmy Dexter (106)  4-Ryan Darling (88)  5-Kyle Merrill (71)  6-Jake Schutt (60)  7-Joe Sullivan (53).

The Eagles were state ranked for most of the season in 2005. J-E was 4th (146 points) in the Section III Championships as well, finishing behind Canastota (52), Tully (62), and Sauquoit Valley (99).  Seniors Chris Weingarth, Jimmy Dexter, Jake Schutt, and Shelby Brayton led the way for the competitive Eagles squad..

2007

The 2007 squad returned to being one of the top teams in all of New York State.  Despite losing the league crown to rival Bishop Ludden, the Eagles sported the most league wins since 1998 and sported a 6 - 2 record.  In the Section III Championships, J-E finished 2nd overall and was declared the C-1 Class Champs - it's first sectional championship in 9 years.  In addition to the team title, Senior Jeff Donohue and Sophomore Cody Stanton qualified for the State Cross Country Meet.  Donohue was 6th overall in the Sectionals (16.16) and Stanton was 7th (16.26).  The top seven scorers for the Eagles were: 1-Jeff Donohue 127 Points  2- Cody Stanton 118  3-Mike Marrero 106  4-Donato Direnzo 90  5-Tom Poppe 73  6-Greg Bader 63  7-Jake Griffin 56.  The Varsity Squad won three invitationals (Auburn, Liverpool, and Weedsport) and placed 3rd in two other invites (Cent. Square and EJ Herrmann).  J-E finished 3rd in the final class C state rankings held in 2007.  J-E had a 154 - 21 won-loss record in 2007 when you factor all the teams that it competed against in league and invitational action.  Jeff Donohue won the individual title at the Weesport Invite.

Jeff Donohue was the team MVP, Cody Stanton was the Most Improved Runner, Donato Direnzo was the Coaches Award winner, Tom Poppe and Greg Bader were the co-Rookie of the Year winners.
